College of Nursing Hall of Fame Board of Directors
The HOF Board of Directors (Board) was convened in March 2023 by Dean Bim Akintade with the goal of empowering a group to:
- Become self-governing
- Develop structure and policies for the HOF and Distinguished Alumni (DA) honors
- Implement methods for HOF member engagement with the CON
- Celebrate HOF member accomplishments

The HOF is governed by a set of bylaws which were established in July 2023 and are reviewed and updated annually and as needed.
2023-2025 Accomplishments
- Strengthened nomination process
- Created an email box CONHOF@ecu.edu and a listserv CONHOF-L@LISTSERV.ecu.edu for easier and more streamlined communication with membership
- Held first annual Dean’s Virtual update to the HOF membership on March 25, 2025
- Completed a survey of all current HOF members and used that feedback to guide engagement efforts
- Held two successful annual induction banquets with 34 new HOF inductees
- Made visits to local healthcare organizations to speak to CEO/CNO about HOF and solicit support for nomination of Pirate Nurses to HOF
- Approved fund document which outlines HOF scholarship criteria
