Daniel (Dave) Lacambacal: DNP Spotlight

Dave was born and raised in the Philippines until age 11 when he and his immediate family relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2001. Attending the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, Dave completed his undergraduate degree in Biology in 2012; earning recognition as an UNLV Outstanding Graduate. After his undergraduate work, Dave decided to change his career path and enrolled in the Duke University School of Nursing in the Spring of 2013 with his sights set on a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. During his time at Duke, Dave was awarded the School of Nursing's University Scholar merit and served as its representative during the 2013-14 academic year. Dave joined ECU's DNP program in the Fall of 2017 where he continues to expand his knowledge and practice of nursing.

As a Certified Emergency Nurse, Dave has been working as an Emergency Room Nurse for three years and currently works at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill Hospital. There, he ensures the safe, timely, and appropriate care of patients in the emergency department. He also assists in the care of critically ill trauma patients. His duties also include the efficient triage of patients who arrive in the emergency department and manage the safety of the emergency department lobby. Dave is also a member of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).

Dave lives in Durham with his wife, Lauren, and golden retriever, Paddi. He likes to spend his weekends relaxing with his wife, going on brunch dates with her, and visiting with family and friends. Dave also enjoys indoor and outdoor Bouldering, a type of rock climbing without ropes that typically does not exceed 20 feet high.
