As many of you may know, the College of Nursing family has lost a great friend and colleague with the passing of Jane Boardman, who served as an administrative support specialist for many years. This is a devastating loss for our college and for the many people who knew and loved Jane. However, we pause to celebrate her life as well as the joy she brought to each of our lives.

Jane took great delight in planning events that celebrate the achievements of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the college. From Homecoming to Hall of Fame inductions, and Lamp of Learning ceremonies to graduations, Jane’s enthusiasm, commitment, talent and care went into many beautiful and memorable events and tributes to our college’s accomplishments.

As I walk through the halls of our building, I see Jane’s special touches at every turn, from the beautiful display cases she prepared in our lobby to reminders of the special events she coordinated with such elegance. Jane was a friend to all — everyone who was affiliated with or touched by our college and beyond.

Jane was a genuine, caring person. Her ability to care for the spirit of others, and that of our college, was unsurpassed. She will be very deeply missed. We offer our sincere condolences to the Boardman family.

Sylvia T. Brown

Dean
