Powering Pirate Nursing

Hall Of Fame

ECU College of Nursing Hall of Fame Award 2019

On Friday March 18, all members of the Hall of Fame will gather at the Hilton to welcome the new inductees and congratulate this year’s distinguished alumna. Dr. Alta Andrews.  All money raised from nominations and donations by members or former scholarship recipients goes to support the Hall of Fame Scholarships.

Pirate Nation Gives

Wednesday, March 23 is the next annual Day of Fundraising at ECU. This yearly event is growing and we need your support! Please make a gift (minimum is $5) on this day to either the faculty support fund or scholarship of your choice. The college with the greatest number of donors making a gift that day wins!

Student Graduation

We have over 12,000 alumni. Let’s show them Pirate Nurse Pride! Be counted! Following are some of the funds and initiatives that need your support on Pirate Nation Gives:

Faculty Support Great nurses require great faculty!

Morris Family Faculty Support Endowment
The Morris Family Endowed Faculty Support Fundestablished by Patricia Morris (BSN ’85). When asked why Trish chose to establish this endowment, she said, “To become a qualified, caring nurse who stays in the battle for each patient’s needs throughout every shift, students have to be taught extremely well before they are licensed. Today nursing is more like a battle on many levels.  To attract and keep the most qualified faculty to teach ECU College of Nursing students, we must provide more than current state level salaries to be competitive.  It is the only way for our nursing students to be successful in the circle of healthcare for our communities and the country.”
Bridget Rogers Faculty Support Endowment

Bridget Rogers ’77 Endowed Faculty Support Fundestablished by Bridget Rogers (BSN ’77) Why I chose ECU CON?

Bridget says she gave to ECU Nursing because “When I was a student, I felt honored and proud to be in the ECU nursing program.  My classmates and I learned from knowledgeable and dedicated faculty.  We felt prepared for the NCLEX and for the journeys wherever our ECU nursing education would take us.  I feel it is my turn to give to the ECU CON to help present and future nursing students. Cont.

Why Faculty Support?  “When deciding where to place my endowment, I chose Faculty Support.  It takes great faculty to produce great nurses!  I believe this. ECU has always had great nursing faculty.  This endowment can help to assure this legacy of outstanding faculty continues at ECU CON.”

Scholarships Help students pursue their dreams of becoming a Pirate Nurse
