Melissa Peeler: DNP Spotlight

Melissa Peeler is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (BSN, 2008). She is a staff nurse in the Progressive Care Step Down/Stroke Unit at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Melissa is a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse and a member of NCNA. She is certified in Advanced Stroke Life Support along with Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Melissa precepts new hires and students on her unit. Prior to starting the DNP program, Melissa was the Chair of her Unit Based Practice Council for 3 years, and Co-Chair of the Communication, Finance, and Retention Council on Nursing Congress at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Melissa has participated in several Lean A3 events on her unit and in the hospital.

Melissa is married and has a beautiful, happy daughter, Salem, a loving German Shepherd, Axel, and a feisty cat, Toby, who thinks he is a dog. Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and pets, exercising, and visiting the local beaches.
