PhD-DNP Collaborative Translational Science Seed Grant
The purpose of this grant is to fund projects focused on addressing the socio-structural drivers of health in eastern North Carolina. Translational science projects will be prioritized.
Eligible recipients: Any combination of team members representing PhD and DNP faculty and/or students at the ECU College of Nursing
Amount: $5000
Submission deadline: April 1, 2025 by 5pm.
Application requirements:
Please submit your proposal via email to Dr. Courtney Caiola.
- Title sheet – include project title, PI name and contact information, any co-Is or collaborators, 100-word abstract, and total budget requested
- Proposal (no more than 4 pages, minimum 11pt font with 1-inch margins, single-space) include:
- Specific Aims to include rationale, objective(s), and expected outcomes (1 page)
- Research Strategy (up to 3 pages) to include the following sections: Background/Significance, Innovation, Approach, Timeline (funding period may be for 12 or 18 months) AND strategies for fostering intra-professional collaboration.
- Not Counted towards page limit: § Biosketch of PI and co-Is (use the current NIH template)
- Itemized budget and budget justification explaining each item requested. Budget items not allowed: salary for PI or co-Is, conference travel, and/or software available on campus for faculty use.
- IRB approval letter or IRB status
- References (APA 7th ed format or AMA format)
- Expected outcomes including publications, conference presentations, and identified external funding source including link and planned submission date(s).
- Letter of Support from Department Chair. The LOS may include any additional support provided by the department e.g., course release, additional funding support, etc.
Grant Management
The following conditions are required and the recipient must accept these conditions at the time of the grant award.
- Research Development – scheduled meeting(s) with Collaboratory facilitator (Dr. Caiola) to review work progress. Date(s) will be determined after Notice of Award.
- A Final report submitted to the CON Office of Research and ECU CON Collaboratory within one-month following expiration of the grant funds that summarizes results, expenditures, and update on planned outcomes.
- Any and all documents, papers, and publications associated with the activities supported by the grant award must acknowledge the ECU CON Collaboratory.
