PhD Program Paths
The PhD program is delivered fully online. For the first three years of the program, there will be a required summer immersion session consisting of several days on campus. Dates for classes are posted by July 1st for the upcoming academic year.
BSN to PhD
The BSN to PhD option blends the doctoral curriculum with two different MSN concentrations – the Nursing Education concentration or the Health Systems Leadership concentration. This option will reduce the number of master’s level courses required in the traditional MSN program and facilitates completion of the nursing PhD in a timely manner. BSN to PhD students are required to complete between 72 and 84 semester hours. Undergraduate students interested in this pathway may wish to learn more about opportunities such as the Early Assurance Program provided through the ECU Honors College.
