ECU AMMPeD: Amplifying Medical, Midwifery, Nurse Practitioner, and Dental Education to Address the Substance Use Crisis in Eastern North Carolina

Purpose

ECU-AMMPeD aims to reduce health disparities and improve substance use disorder outcomes in Eastern NC by improving access to evidence-based substance use disorder treatment through the implementation of a comprehensive and sustainable graduate academic and regional education program.

Eastern North Carolina’s overdose death rates and substance-related harm rates exceed national rates. ECU AMMPeD recognizes that inadequate access to substance use disorder treatment and insufficient student and provider education contribute to disparities in outcomes in our region.
