About The College of Nursing

Welcome to East Carolina University’s College of Nursing.

For more than six decades we have educated and mentored nurses, advanced practice registered nurses/nurse practitioners, doctors of nursing practice, and nurse scientists who are making a difference in the health care of individuals in our region and beyond. We are proud of their scholarship, service to their communities and enduring Pirate pride.

Our college is consistently honored with National League for Nursing Center of Excellence designations, and our innovative online offerings consistently earn us recognition among the top distance education programs in the country according to the U.S. News and World Report. As part of ECU’s Health Sciences Campus – which is comprised of nursing, dentistry, medicine and allied health sciences – interprofessional education is at the heart of what we do.

Our primary mission is student success. The College of Nursing’s faculty and staff are committed to academic excellence and to providing a quality learning environment for students. We support our students with state-of-the-art simulation labs, a student development and counseling center, a student services center with advisors, smart classrooms and an expert technology team.

Our tradition of service learning, community engagement and leadership also contribute to our nursing excellence. Research and scholarship are an integral part of the ECU College of Nursing, which afford students the opportunity to work with faculty to advance nursing science and address health issues.

Diversity and inclusion are key priorities as we work to prepare a competent and caring workforce of nurse leaders that reflects the communities they serve. We recognize that creating an environment that connects us with those who have backgrounds and perspectives different from our own is crucial to growth as nurses and as human beings.

Our alumni, more than 12,000 strong, are our crowning jewels who carry forth our tradition of excellence. If you’re interested in becoming a Pirate Nurse, I invite you to visit our campus and make an appointment to meet with one of our admissions advisors.

Thank you for stopping by our website. Please look around and contact us at nursing@ecu.edu if you have any questions.

Again, welcome to the ECU College of Nursing!
