In Memoriam: Major Jan Cannon, CRNA

Major Jan Cannon

Major Jan Cannon of Walstonburg succumbed to ALS during the week of August 30, 2015. Major Cannon received her BSN from the ECU College of Nursing in 1988 and her MSN from the ECU College of Nursing in 2005, graduating as one of the inaugural class of the Nurse Anesthesia Program.

After graduation from our Nurse Anesthesia Program, she initially worked as a CRNA at Vidant Medical Center. She later went to work as a CRNA in Wilson, which is nearer her home. Major Cannon also served the ECU College of Nursing as both a clinical and a didactic nurse anesthesia adjunct faculty member.

Jan Cannon was a wonderful example of what is best about being a Pirate Nurse. She was 50 years old. Please join our CON family in remembering this remarkable woman, dear friend, and colleague.
