Preceptors: Invitation to Adjunct Role

Dear Clinical Instructors:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous work in the clinical education of ECU Nurse Anesthesia (SRNA) students. We are very appreciative of your time and effort teaching our students in the operating room, simulation lab and classroom.

One way we can acknowledge your contributions is by submitting a letter of support on your behalf for consideration for an adjunct faculty role at the East Carolina University College of Nursing. We are hopeful that you will consider this opportunity. Please note the nomination procedure process as outlined below.

The category of adjunct faculty includes those who are not employed full or part-time by East Carolina University College of Nursing but who make a contribution to the teaching, service, or research mission of the College of Nursing. Adjunct faculty typically contribute through teaching in the classroom or college laboratory, serving as a clinical preceptor, providing consultation to faculty and/or students, collaborating on research projects, or contributing to other scholarly projects sponsored by the College of Nursing. Adjunct faculty are not eligible for tenure from East Carolina University College of Nursing. However, they are invited to attend College of Nursing faculty meetings as non-voting members.

The candidate must possess a minimum of a master’s or doctorate in the area of specialization specific to the contribution or service provided. In special situations, alternate academic credentials may be justified for those with extensive experience and/or expertise who make outstanding contributions in their area of specialization.
