Research & Scholarship
Research Overview
Our researchers lead the charge in developing health care solutions for rural areas and disparate populations such as those found throughout eastern North Carolina.
Although our researchers study an array of health care topics, their work can often be grouped into two categories: systems — utilizing Big Data to understand how health care provider systems function and can be improved, and symptoms — biobehavioral research focused on health care at the patient level.
As a part of ECU’s health sciences campus, ECU nurse scientists frequently collaborate with faculty from the Brody School of Medicine, the School of Dental Medicine and the College of Allied Health Sciences. On ECU’s main campus, the College of Engineering and Technology offers collaborative opportunities for innovation.
