“This is an area I need to pursue and get all the data that is required so that I can develop interventions for these parents.”

  • Research Interest: Increased health morbidities and mortality among bereaved parents.
  • Innovation: Developing an individualized and tailored intervention for parents of children with life threatening conditions, with a goal to improve the health outcomes of the parents.
  • Research Population: Parents of children with life threatening conditions
  • Intervention: Building a web based application for parents.
  • Funding: Start-up

The proposed research will gather data essential for developing a program of research that focuses on designing and testing interventions to improve the health outcomes of parents of children with a terminal illness. The long-term goal of my research is to develop and test interventions for parents and children that can be integrated into the child’s illness trajectory by the health care team. Thus, this study addresses two important concerns: 1) Improving pediatric palliative care and 2) Improving health outcomes of parents of children with life-threatening conditions.
