  • Research Context / Setting: Surveying registered nurses in NC on their nutrition knowledge related to diabetes and their perceived barriers to patient education in their clinical settings.

  • Sampling Strategy: Will e-mail all RNs who have registered an e-mail address with the NCBON inviting them to participate in the project via an electronic survey
  • Data Collection Instruments: A survey that has been created and validated by content experts
  • Analysis Methods: Descriptive analysis, Correlational analysis and possibly some regression analysis
  • Collaborators: Nutrition experts

My research is focused in two areas – nursing education and the clinical issue of grief.  In the area of nursing education, my research is two-fold:  one is to determine the nutrition knowledge of registered nurses and the nutrition education provided in nursing education.  In the clinical area, I am interested in chronic grief in parents of children with type 1 diabetes.
