- Research Interest: How interdisciplinary teams can meet the health promotion needs of aging adults experiencing mobility, cognitive and health challenges.
- Innovation: Focused on empowering aging people to thrive in place – remaining in their homes with support for their caregivers and others helping them living at home.
- Research Context / Setting: Exploring technology that permits older adults to be monitored for physical changes that may signal risk for falls, a need for increased care, etc. and student research projects related to family caregiver management of memory challenges of a person living with dementia, antibiotic stewardship in long term care, HIV care for African American women and perioperative care for incarcerated men.
- Study Design: Both qualitative and quantitative design studies
- Research Population: Adults living in communities (homes, assisted living, long term care or prisons)
- Sampling Strategy: Purposive
- Intervention: The HIV care for African American women and the monitoring home living adults will be interventional studies
- Data Collection Instruments: Interviews, surveys, RFID generated data, etc.
- Collaborators: UNC Chapel Hill on the Carolina Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program grant. Working with Computer Science, Medicine, Engineering, and Occupational Therapy.
