The NC Board of Nursing defines APRN as an umbrella title for Registered Nurses who are a Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthetist, Nurse-Midwife, or Clinical Nurse Specialist.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice is designed for nurses seeking a terminal degree in nursing practice and offers an alternative to research-focused doctoral programs. The DNP builds on traditional master’s programs by providing education in evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and systems leadership. The AACN DNP Fact Sheet provides more information on the DNP role.

The DNP programs at ECU and Colleges of Nursing nationwide are grounded in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Essentials. These AACN 2006 DNP Essentials define the curricula elements that must be present in DNP program.

The ECU Post Master’s APRN DNP is a part-time, on-line, accredited, state-of-the art program where you can continue working while pursuing your doctoral degree. Your focus is your professional path and our focus is YOU. See the DNP Post Masters APRN Sample Curriculum

ECU and the College of Nursing offer a variety of electives for you to consider.
