Post-Master's Certificate
Nurses with a master’s degree in nursing are eligible to continue graduate study and obtain a post-master’s certificate in selected areas. Eight post-MSN certificate options offer registered nurses advanced practice education, qualifying them to take national certification exams. Students complete course work in the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner concentration (AGACNP) Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist concentration (AG CNS), Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist (NCNS), Neonatal Nurse Practitioner concentration (NNP), Health Systems Leadership concentration (HSL), the Nurse-Midwifery concentration (NM), or the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner concentration, An additional post-MSN certificate is offered in Nursing Education (NEd) in which students are qualified to take the Certified Nurse Educator Exam.
The Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist, Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist (NCNS), Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Leadership, Nurse-Midwifery, , Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Nursing Education certificates are offered online. We welcome distance education students and will make every effort to accommodate their clinical placement needs. There may be times, however, when this is not possible. Interested students should speak with the concentration director of their program of interest if they are not at North Carolina resident.
Applicants for post-master’s certificate options complete the Application for Admission to Graduate Degrees or Certificate Programs, which can be completed online at the ECU Graduate School website or obtained from the Graduate School. MAT or GRE scores are not required for post-master’s options
